Last weekend it was time again for the AnimagiC convention in Bonn. Every year 15000 fans of the Japanese pop culture meet up there to have a weekend full of manga, anime, games and music. We were there as well to tell you how it was!
Like every year fans from all over Germany came to the Beethovenhalle in Bonn, where the AnimagiC took place. There is always a lot going on during the convention. Needless to say, manga and anime – Japanese comics and animated movies – were the main focus: The German premiere of “Detective Conan, Film 18″ and “Dragonball Z: Battle of Gods” and many other movies were shown. As a visitor you are also able to look behind the scenes of those kind of movies. Since every year guests are especially flown in from Japan – mostly famous illustrators, producers or directors – you get the chance to have your DVD box signed or to ask all kind of questions during one of the many Q&A panels. Among others Nobuhiro Watsuki, creator of Rurouni Kenshin, and Shinichiro Watanabe, director of Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop were guests of this year´s AnimagiC.
Furthermore there are many different workshops to attend such as voice acting or drawing.
And of course we cannot forget about the concerts, show acts, awards show, the merchandise area, the gaming room and the outdoor area including the outdoor stage, food stalls and the uncountable cosplayers. .
For those who are interested themselves in Japanese pop culture or would like to get to know more about it, we can really recommend the AnimagiC convention.
